At the meeting, the Ministry of Environment presented a strategy of 'leading, expeditious, and cooperative' with the vision of 'to create carbon neutrality (net zero) together, to enjoy a water environment together' for 2050 carbon neutrality and digital transformation in the water management field.

 

In addition, it plans to focus on four areas: fostering water-related renewable energy and reducing carbon, establishing a foundation for nurturing a digital/regional specialized water industry, strengthening R&D for carbon-neutral and digital transformation, and improving systems to lay the foundation for innovation introduced as

 

The Korea Environment Corporation introduced a plan to strive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 by discovering new water-energy related businesses such as biogas and green hydrogen production by 2030. The transition plan was announced.

 

The Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute explained four R&D plans, including integrated water management in connection with the 4th industry, advancement of low-energy water supply technology, and innovative technology for water management in response to floods and droughts. )' explained the 4 strategic directions and 12 strategic tasks of the system.

 

Prior to the meeting, the Ministry of Environment selected 10 'innovative water companies' for the 2nd term to foster water companies with potential for growth and presented them with a letter of designation. Selected companies will receive up to 400 million won per company for advancement of innovative technology and overseas expansion over the next five years.

 

Minister Han Jeong-ae said, "We will spare no effort to support the domestic water industry so that it can become globally competitive as a future core industry that will lead the carbon neutrality and Green New Deal."
